2018-2019

Chemours Scholarship *

Attached is the scholarship application for Chemours’ Future of Chemistry.   Chemours is focused on awarding scholarships to students with a minimum 3.0 GPA (on a scale of 4.0) who are interested in pursuing STEM-related careers at Bladen Community College, Fayetteville Technical Community College, and Fayetteville State University.  Deadline for submission of applications has been extended to June 15, 2019. The application may be distributed to any graduating seniors from high schools in Cumberland, Bladen or Robeson Counties.

Cars and Coffee Scholarship Application

This scholarship opportunity is for a low-income high school senior with an interest in a skilled trade field falling under the “Engineering & Applied Technology” category at Fayetteville Technical Community College, with special consideration being given to a student in an automotive-related curriculum. Student may be full-time or part-time. Scholarship can be used for tuition and/or books.  *If the student changes program (outside of skilled trade field) or drops out of school, then they forfeit the scholarship. The student must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 while in the program.
Amount of Scholarship: Varies, depending on funds brought in at the event. The scholarship recipient will also receive a tool kit donated by Lowe’s Home Improvement.
Application Deadline:  Friday, May 31, 2019
Decision Announced:  June 2019
The student will receive a call in June notifying them that they were chosen. The student will then be expected to apply for Fayetteville Technical Community College and register for their classes. Once the event happens on July 20th, then we will give the scholarship funds to FTCC as a third-party scholarship, which will cover tuition and books, as available.  Submit the the following application:  Cars and Coffee Scholarship Information

Alyssa Joy Evans Memorial

The Alyssa Joy Evans Memorial along with the Cumberland County Schools is proud to be able to present scholarships to qualifying Cumberland County Schools (CCS) high school seniors to help them defray the cost of higher education. Complete applications must be received at VanStory Hills Elementary by Friday, April 12, 2019, by 4:00 p.m.

To be considered eligible for this scholarship, students must:

Be a 2018-2019 Cumberland County Schools’ high school senior.
Maintain a minimum weighted 2.5 GPA.
Complete the essay portion of the scholarship as directed.
Include an official transcript with the application.
Include a current report card.
Include a copy of an acceptance letter to college.
Turn the completed packet in by the scholarship deadline, April 12th

Scholarships of $1000.00 each will be awarded to FIVE students. FTCC Foundation Scholarships

Fayetteville Technical Community College (i.e., FTCC) offers a variety of scholarships based upon financial need, major, or academic performance. The two scholarships listed below are major endowments for current seniors. Other scholarship opportunities for seniors are listed on the second page of the packet. Please submit the application FTCC 2019 Scholarship Application Form to apply.

Deadline is Monday, April 1, 2019, so apply for a scholarship now!  FTCC 2019 Scholarships Flyer    You must complete the Foundation Scholarship Application and the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  Both need-based and merit-based scholarships are available.   For more information, visit your high school guidance counselor or go to FTCC Financial Aid

President’s Foundation Scholarship Program

Multiple $2,000 scholarships for graduating high school seniors (non-renewable)
Minimum 2.75 un-weighted high school GPA
Must enroll at FTCC full-time (minimum 12 credit hours) for the fall 2019 semester
Deadline, Monday, April 1, 2019

• Submit a letter of reference from a teacher, counselor, or principal
• Submit a high school transcript
• Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

2. Make sure you have a minimum, highly recommended 2.5 GPA

FTCC FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS – HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATES LISTING

Cumberland County Schools Association Teacher Assistants/Ed Melvin Scholarship

  • Cumberland County Schools seniors ONLY with a minimum 8 GPA
  • The students may be enrolled in any FTCC program
  • Must be enrolled in 6 credits or more
  • Deadline: Friday, March 1, 2019

FTCC AEOP (Association of Education Office Professionals) Scholarship
Must be US citizens and be graduating high school seniors who have applied for admission in a post-high school program or freshmen in a post-high school program
Must be enrolled in 12 credit hours or more
Student applicants and EOP applicants should contact the FTCC AEOP Organization, PO Box 35236, Fayetteville, NC 28303 for more information

National Organization for Women (N.O.W.) Scholarship
High school graduates coming to FTCC with a minimum GPA of 2.5 planning to go into any program
First consideration will be given to displaced homemakers or single heads of household. Must be enrolled in 12 credit hours or more.

Professional Construction Estimators’ Association, Fayetteville Chapter 6 Endowed Scholarship
The award can go to incoming or existing FTCC students with a preference for those who are Academy of Green Technology (Douglas Byrd HS) and then those in any construction related field.    Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.0. Must plan to be enrolled in 12 credits or more.

FTCC Trades Foundation Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to incoming or existing students with a minimum 2.0 GPA
Must study: Plumbing, Electronics Technology, Carpentry, Surveying Technology, and Air Conditioning/Heating and Refrigeration Technology
Must be enrolled in 12 credit hours or more

Fayetteville Publishing Company Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to incoming or existing students with a minimum 2.0 GPA
First preference will be given to students who are preparing for a career in journalism, marketing, retailing, advertising or graphic design
Must be enrolled in 12 credit hours or more

Golden Knights Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to incoming or existing students with a 2.0 GPA
Must be enrolled in 12 credits or more

2019 Fayetteville Technical Community College Foundation 
Foundation scholarships are awarded based on the criteria of each scholarship and the availability of funds. To apply for a Foundation Scholarship:
• Complete the online FTCC application for admission through CFNC (cfnc.org)
• Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) (fafsa.ed.gov)
• Enroll at FTCC for a minimum of 6 credit hours or the requirements stipulated in the specific scholarship criteria
• Have a minimum 2.0 un-weighted GPA or the requirements stipulated in the specific scholarship criteria
• All fields on this application must be completed for consideration

Allied Health – United Way / YGST Career Pathways Scholarship

Youth Growth Stock Trust Scholarships Criteria and Allied Health, 2019 UW Scholarship Application

The United Way Youth Growth Stock Trust has established scholarships for high school seniors enrolled in Cumberland County Schools and are registered in a Health Science Curriculum and plan to pursue a nursing or other health-related career. The scholarship awards will be $1,000 each. Students must meet the following criteria:

▪ Currently a Cumberland County Schools high school senior enrolled in an advanced level Health Science Education course.

▪ Applied or enrolled in a nursing or other health-related program at Fayetteville Technical Community College, Sandhills Community College, Fayetteville State University, Methodist University, Campbell University or the University of North Carolina at Pembroke.

▪ Agree to work in a health-related field in North Carolina for at least three years.

▪ An official transcript must be submitted to your Health Science Instructor.

▪ Complete a 250-word essay explaining student’s goals, education, and career expectations.

▪ Complete an application, answering all questions in the space provided. Other attachments will not be considered in the selection process.

▪ Completed application and transcripts are due by April 12, 2019 to the Health Science Instructor to ensure they are in the CTE office by the due date. A Cumberland County Scholarship Selection Committee will select the winners.

Upon selection:

  1. The student will receive a letter from Cumberland County Schools / CTE acknowledging the scholarship award.
  2. The student will notify Fayetteville Technical Community College, Sandhills Community College, Fayetteville State University, Methodist University, Campbell University or University of North Carolina at Pembroke about the scholarship.
  3. The college you attend will need to request funds from the Cumberland County Schools’ Finance Department.

Career Pathways – Youth Growth Stock Trust (YGST)

AMOUNT: 5- $1,000 competitive scholarships

CRITERIA:

  • Cumberland County Schools high school senior
  • Minimum 2.5 unweighted GPA
  • Career & Technical Education Concentrator (This includes students completing a CTE Certificate at FTCC through High School Connections.)
  • Demonstrated need
  • Enrollment in a North Carolina Community College within one year of high school graduation to pursue an associate degree

DEADLINE: Eligible students must submit the completed application and attachments to their CTE Facilitator or counselor by Friday, April 12, 2019

REQUIRED ATTACHMENTS:

  • Include a one-page, typed statement that answers these questions:
  • What are your career goals?
  • What are your academic plans after high school?
  • What school/community activities have you participated in within the past two (2) years?
  • Have you received any awards/honors that you would like to discuss?
  • Why is this scholarship a financial necessity for you?
  • Please attach a copy of your official high school transcript
  • Please provide a copy of your Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) statement from your FASFA. If you are not able to secure this information by the application deadline, you may provide other proof of annual household income.

The application form may be typed or neatly hand-written. Attachments will be accepted provided the total package does not exceed five (5) pages.

Return application to your CTE Facilitator at your high school by Friday, April 12, 2019
