Former NFL Player, Brad Edwards, Speaks at CTE Honors Award Luncheon

Each year the Career and Technical Education department of Cumberland County Schools recognizes high school seniors enrolled in CTE courses who have demonstrated college and career readiness and have met the following criteria:   3.0 overall GPA grades 9-12, 90 or higher average in CTE courses, completing a 4-credit CTE Concentration in a Career Cluster, and achieved a Silver Career Readiness Certificate or higher on the Workkeys Assessment.   This year 387 high school seniors were recognized at the luncheon held in their honor at the Crown Expo Center on April 25, 2018.

The Keynote Speaker was Mr. Brad Edwards, Assistant Vice President and Director of Athletics at George Mason University in Fairfax, VA.   Mr. Edwards is a 1984 graduate of Douglas Byrd High School, former NFL player for the Washington Redskins, and was named MVP runner-up in Super Bowl XXVI.  Brad is the son of Elizabeth Edwards, retired Career and Technical Education teacher.   Read this and more  5.17.18 CTE News Briefs.
